I don't think parents can have "favorite" children. I just don't think it is possible. I now understand how you can love two completely different people and love them equally, but uniquely.
I do, however, have times when I enjoy being with my kids mare than others. Walking a crying baby for hours? Not much fun. Listening to whining toddler demands? Excruciating.
But as they get older and grow and change I am finding more, new, fun things to do with them.
I am excited to take Jack to the library and watch him pick out books. Or to see his mind work as he helps me lay out train tracks.
I can't wait for Sarah to be up from her nap so I can sing and clap and do "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" and "Patty-Cake." I want to make kissing noises back and forth with her for as long as she will do it.
These are some of my favorites.

I only have one, so I can't relate to having two kids to spread the love out with but I can totally understand the excitement of seeing them grow and learn to do new things everyday. It's just too much fun!!!
I worry about that love thing with having a second, but it is good to hear you say it is ok and works out. I know what you mean on watching them change. I could do what we call "party tricks" with Abbie all day. I so look foward to watching her discover the world and herself as a person. It is just so scary how fast it goes.
It's amazing how fast that will change to "I love going to the movies with one kid and biking through the hills with the other." It keeps getting better and better, it's amazing.
The only time I ever wished I could go back was when I wanted to be able to hold them all day, cause I can be needy like that, but you know that's a good thing.
