Every fall my husband gets out a pad of paper and sits down with the TiVo and an internet tv schedule and figures out what shows we will watch and on which TiVo they will record (we have two, in case we need to simultaneously record things).
This year we added Dirty Sexy Money to our lineup and it has been my surprise favorite. I like that it's not too serious, but there is enough intrigue to keep me interested. I love Karen Darling and her serial marriages, and I can't stand Juliette Darling and her lame Paris-Hilton-heiress role. I love, love Donald Sutherland as the wise, old intellectual patriarch. And I loved Jill Clayburgh in Running With Scissors and she plays a great classic matriarch.
We haven't really stuck with any other new shows this year. We've been really disappointed with Chuck and Bionic Woman. Even my love of Katee Sackhoff couldn't make me stick with it. Both of these have kind of lame storylines and I spend most of the show waiting for them to hurry up and finish some fight scene so we can get on with the plot. (P.S. BSG Razor November 24 at 9:00!!!)
Last year I was surprised by liking Heroes. I am sort of a reluctant sci-fi watcher. This season I'm not into it, but I'm trying to stick it out to see if it gets good again.
My number one, best show, possibly ever, of course, is The Office. Every week I laugh out loud and have to pause the show so that I can compose myself before we continue. I love it, love it, love it. ("The eyes are the groin of the head.")
I also should mention my love of How I Met Your Mother. This was a surprise favorite we stuck with, possibly all because of NPH and his awesome character, Barney. While I believe this is the dumbest title for a show and that we will never, ever meet the mother, this cute, little Friends-y sitcom is one of the first we watch every week.
And, yes, just because it comes on after HIMYM, we are watching The Big Bang Theory. It's dumb and lame, but we are low on sitcoms, so there it is. (And, really, who keeps putting Sara Gilbert on TV shows? Yuck.)

Nerd Alert!
We have until sometime in 2008 to discuss the third season of Battlestar Galactica. I'll start now since we just finished watching it on the TiVo.
I have a few things to say about this past season:
1. Some of the episodes were kind of lame. I was disappointed because it seemed like the storylines changed from spanning multiple episodes with cliffhangers and suspense to self-contained stories that did little to further the overall plot. While the episodes around the Eye of Jupiter and the Temple of Five offer incredible insight into the connections between humans and cylons it isn't until the last episode of the season, 8 episodes later, that any further questions are answered.
2. The beginning of the season pulled us in with the occupation of New Caprica and eventual exodus, but then Baltar just seemed to switch sides when he was on the Cylon ship and play the same role for them as he did for the humans on the Galactica: he's not entirely included as one of them, but his intelligence is helpful.
3. Baltar's trial only frustrated a storyline already off course and delayed any further explanation of the Final Five Cylons. It seemed to spend more time generating content for a possible spin off.
Which brings me to the subject of the final five cylons.
The creator of BSG has confirmed that the four who revealed themselves in the final episode are in fact cylons: Chief Tyrol, Saul Tigh, Sam Anders, and Tory Foster. The debate remains as to whether Starbuck was revealed as a cylon or not. Personally, I don't think she is, I think it'd be too easy to have all five revealed at once. I am not convinced that she was actually there speaking to Lee in person or if she was just speaking to him, in his mind or from earth.
So I see there are two explanations for Lee's encounter with Starbuck:
Starbuck is a cylon who reincarnated through the goo and flew with a cylon attack to talk to Lee. I find this unlikely since she never claimed to be a cylon, Lee is the only one who saw her, and her ship, a colonial viper, appeared and then quickly disappeared from Dradis.
I more likely think that Starbuck is actually dead and is speaking to Lee from the beyond. She says she has been to Earth. Could that mean what we think of as heaven? Is BSG a story of the humans' search for heaven, here called Earth, and their possible self-destruction along the way?
I am really excited for the next season, especially since it will be the last. I am hoping our questions will be answered and this incredible series will go out with a bang instead of fizzling out over a long period of lamity.

Things You Don't Know About Me
Today's meme comes from frannie over at the t family syndicate. She tagged me for this meme ages ago and I hesitated with that one. It is a loong one with 70 questions to answer, and I'm pretty lazy, so I think it would take a long time. Plus, some questions are boring, some are too controversial and, you know, there's the laziness.
So, instead I will share with you things you don't know about me.
As a kid, I played soccer for many, many years, however, now I have no athletic ability whatsoever. It is even debatable as to whether I had any then.
My husband thought I was a snob the first time I met him. I do not recall this meeting at all (because I was so stuck up!), although I have heard him describe the encounter many times.
I LOVE calendars and planning and writing plans and scheduling things in advance. This may have been the part about being a teacher I liked the best. I really like planning units and lessons and penciling them into my plan book. (Now the following through with the plans? That is a different story).
I was a teacher in another life.
I don't know what I will be when I grow up. I want to do something fun and challenging and ideally something that involves writing and/or taking pictures of my kids. Cause those are the things I like to do most. If only I could get paid to blog, that would be a dream come true. Even easier would be if I got paid to read blogs. Anyone know where I can sign up for that?
Sarah is now sleeping through the night. That's not really something about me, but I wanted to brag a little by working it into the conversation.
I played World of Warcraft for a long time, but I don't have the time anymore to play. It was the perfect thing to occupy two parents of one child who needed something to do in the evenings after said child went to bed. But now, we just don't have the time. I miss it sometimes, we had a lot of real-life and in-game friends who played, but now it seems like a lot of people have moved on. (I am really looking forward to this, although it won't be out until at least next year.)
So, there you have it. You know me a little better now, and I have knocked out another meme! For my loyal readers (MK), there will be at least two more to come...one of which will be on Friday!

What's In The Mail Today?
Sometimes my life is so glamorous. Like today, I was so. excited. that I called my husband to tell him, "We had a good mail day!" As in, good stuff came in the mail. For me! And then, because apparently I have nothing else to do, I thought I'd take a picture and share it with teh Internet.
On the left we have my first computer-y book. My husband is so proud, I think he could burst with the nerdy hotness that comes from having a wife who wants to learn HTML.
And on the right, dear Internet readers, is my prize for almost winning the "Guess Min's Tattoo Contest" over at Mama Drama.
Yes, folks, it's a banner day on the Bunny Farm. There's so much excitement in the air, I might go fold some jeans or write out my Target shopping list.
(What? This was the dullest post ever? You wanted cutie pie baby pictures? Oh, ok.)

BSG 1.0 Mission: Accomplished
I pretend that I only watch things on TV that everybody likes, like, Heroes, Grey's Anatomy and The Office. Things that I would talk about with my coworkers over lunch (You know, if I had coworkers). But since all of our shows have been taking a looong winter vacation, we have been getting some miles out of our Netflix subscription.
My husband and I just finished watching the first season of
I don't like to publicize this fact, but I am a (whispers) secret nerd. I dress normally, don't get me wrong, I don't wear horn-rimmed glasses or pocket protectors or anything. And I wouldn't be caught dead dressing up to attend a Renaissance Faire. But I sometimes delve into the subculture that brought us things like computers, the internet, and massive multiplayer online gaming.
Hence, we tried Battlestar.
And it is great. The season ending cliffhanger was unbelievable! I can't wait to get the second season in the mail.
So, are there any other closet nerds out there? Maybe anybody else who is a whole 2 seasons behind on this sci-fi hit?
